Payment Policy
Version 3 · Effective October 14, 2026 · Last updated October 14, 2026
What changed in this version
Version 3 renames the Section 5 first-charge wording and its plain twin from the one-time setup fee to the First Month terminology; the money structure and every other section did not change.
Plain-language summary; the legal text governs if the two ever differ.
What is this?
This is the everyday version of our Payment Policy for jdswebservice.com. It explains how payments work: who processes the card payment, where you pay, what renews, what happens when a payment fails, and how invoices and add-ons are paid. The short answer: you pay at checkout when you order, and after that everything about your money lives on your billing page in the client portal. The formal legal version is the one that counts if the two ever say different things.
The short version
Online payments run through Stripe, and we never see or store your full card numbers. You pay at checkout when you order a plan, and your billing page in the client portal is the authority on your plan, your billing period, and your next charge. Prices are in US dollars, tax shows up at checkout if it applies, and your signed contract is what governs your own price, refunds, and billing disputes. If a charge looks wrong, email us at [email protected] before calling your bank.
Who we are, and who owns the money terms
- "JD's Web Service" is a sole proprietorship in Pennsylvania that runs jdswebservice.com. We say "we," "us," and "our."
- This policy describes how payments are made. It does not set your price or your service terms: that is what your signed service agreement does. Where the signed agreement differs from this page, the signed agreement wins.
- Our privacy policy says the same thing about the money pages: they are public descriptions of our services, not the contract itself.
Who processes the payments
- Online payments are processed by Stripe, Inc.
- Your card details go to Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card numbers.
- Stripe has its own terms, which apply during payment.
Where payments happen
- When you order: you pay at the payment screen used when you place your order (the checkout).
- After that: your billing page in the client portal shows your plan, your billing period, your invoices, and your next charge. It is the authority on when your next charge happens.
- Need to update your billing details or payment information? Email [email protected].
Dollars and taxes
- All prices and payments are in US dollars (USD).
- Prices do not include taxes. If a sales tax or similar tax applies, it is added at checkout or on the invoice, and the amount shown when you pay is what you pay.
The First Month and your plan structure
Two kinds of payment make up a plan:
- The First Month, paid at checkout to start service. It is a one-time payment for the first month of hosting. There is no separate free-trial program.
- Recurring payments on the billing period your plan uses.
What an order charges, and the amounts, are shown at checkout, on our pricing page, and in your signed contract. The billing page then shows your actual plan and next charge.
Example: You order a plan and pay the First Month at checkout. Your billing page immediately shows your plan, the billing period, and the date of your next charge. If the page says your next charge is the 15th, that is when it happens.
Renewals
- Recurring payments are charged automatically on the billing period you chose.
- They continue under your signed contract until the contract ends, or until a cancellation takes effect at the end of a billing period (under that contract and our Cancellation Policy).
- Your billing page always shows your plan, your billing period, and your next charge.
Price changes
- Prices shown on our pricing page can change from time to time.
- The price that governs your recurring payments is the price in your signed contract, and it stays with that contract. Any change to your own price follows your contract.
Refunds
- Refunds, adjustments, or service credits, if any, are governed by your signed contract.
- This policy explains how payments are made, not whether a payment comes back.
If a payment fails
- If a recurring payment fails or is declined, we can retry it and we may email the address on your account.
- What a late or failed payment means for your service (and any fees or steps to get back online) is governed by your signed contract.
If a charge looks wrong
- Email [email protected] first, before starting a dispute with your bank. It is the fastest fix for both sides.
- Billing disputes between a client and us are governed by that client's signed contract.
Add-ons
- Add-ons (like extra mailboxes) are ordered and paid through the client portal.
- An add-on is priced when you order it, or as recorded in your signed contract or a change order.
- Recurring add-on charges follow your billing cycle, and the amounts show on your billing page.
Invoices for one-time work
- Sometimes we send a one-time invoice for one-time work, such as a whole-site redesign.
- The invoice shows the amount due, appears on your billing page, and is paid through the client portal.
- What the work covers, and when it happens, come from your signed contract or the change order that ordered the work, not from this page.
Deals, coupons, and promotions
- We may offer promotional pricing, discounts, or coupons from time to time.
- When we do, the discount shows at checkout, the promotion's own terms say what it adjusts, and your signed contract still controls your billing.
Keeping payment records
- Payment records, including invoices and receipts, are kept the way our privacy policy describes.
- Anything connected to a client's signed contract follows that contract's rules.
Rules of the road
- Pennsylvania law governs this policy.
- A dispute about the subject of this policy goes to good-faith mediation, and if it is still open after 60 days, to the state courts in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
- Real money disputes between us and a client (prices, payments, billing, refunds, cancellations) stay under the signed contract, which controls.
Changes and related documents
- We can change this policy at any time, and it takes effect the moment we post it. That is the same rule all our legal documents use.
- Related: our Terms of Service (jdswebservice.com/terms) state that the signed contract governs client services and beats any public policy page on money matters, and our Privacy Policy (jdswebservice.com/privacy) governs the personal information connected to payments.
- Our Cancellation Policy (jdswebservice.com/cancellation) is now published. It explains how to cancel, when the cancellation takes effect, and what happens after: your portal, your website, and how to come back later. Where the signed contract differs from it, the contract wins.
