Cancellation & Data Retention

Cancellation, in plain English

How to cancel, what you take with you, and what we keep.

This is a plain-English summary of our cancellation and data retention policy. For the formal legal version, click here.

Cancelling your subscription

You can cancel your monthly subscription at any time. After the one-time $399 setup fee, your subscription is month-to-month; there are no long-term contracts and no cancellation fees. Cancelling stops all future billing. To cancel, email us at [email protected] or use the cancel button in your client portal (when available).

What happens when you cancel

When you cancel:

1. We prepare your website files for transfer - all site code plus a setup guide for the next developer.

2. We send you a release form asking: 'Do you allow us to use your website's code as reference and reuse it in future projects?' (Yes or No)

3. We transfer your website files to you.

The release form

If you say YES: we may reuse your website's code as reference or in future projects. Your files are still transferred to you - you own your website.

If you say NO: we transfer your files to you, and after you confirm receipt (or after 30 days, whichever comes first), we completely delete your website from our servers. It cannot be restored without the files we transferred to you.

In both cases: our internal project and planning files remain on our servers. These are our internal work product (project notes, planning documents, development files) and are not part of your website.

The setup guide

The setup guide we provide includes:

Project requirements (PHP 8.4, Laravel 13, and other technical specifications)

Instructions for setting up the project on a new server

Laravel setup commands (if any need to be run)

Cron job / scheduler setup instructions

The setup guide does NOT include login credentials or passwords - those are stored separately and encrypted.

Please note: the setup guide is provided as a courtesy. Once your service contract is cancelled, we are not available for migration help or technical support. If your new developer needs help setting up a standard PHP/Laravel website, that is between you and them.

Domain names on cancellation

If we registered a domain name on your behalf, it is registered in YOUR name. When you cancel, we'll transfer the domain to you through our domain registrar. The domain is yours - it is not affected by your website cancellation.

Stripe subscription cancellation

When you cancel, we'll cancel your Stripe subscription. You won't be charged again. If you're due a refund (under the 30-day delivery promise), we'll process it through Stripe. See our Payment Agreement for refund details.

Data retention summary

What we keep vs. what we delete when you cancel:

  • Deleted: Your website (if you say NO to code reuse, after 30 days or receipt confirmation)
  • Transferred to you: Your website files, setup guide, domain name
  • Retained: Our internal project and planning files, your billing records (for tax/legal compliance), this cancellation record
